❓ Frequently Asked Questions
What if I’m unsure if training will actually work for my dog?
Most dogs are capable of learning and improving. it usually comes down to structure, consistency, and clear communication.
That’s exactly why we start with the 3-Day Starter Program. It allows me to evaluate your dog in real time and give you honest expectations based on what I actually see - not guesswork.
Why do you require the 3-Day Starter Program?
All new clients begin with the 3-Day Starter Program because it allows us to establish structure and see real behavior patterns early on.
This program also acts as an evaluation period for everyone involved—the dog, the training process, and the owner’s consistency and follow-through. Every case is different, and this step allows me to build a clear, accurate training plan based on your needs, what your dog actually needs in real life, and not just what we see in a short session. It also allows me to see your dog’s behavior without your presence influencing them. A lot of the times I see things owners have no idea their dogs did, or had an issue with. (ie: separation anxiety, how they listen when you’re not present etc.)
This ensures we start in the right direction from the beginning.
Do I have to do Day Train, or can I start with private sessions?
All new clients begin with the 3-Day Starter Program.
Private in-home sessions may become available afterward, depending on your dog’s progress and everyone’s consistency at home. This helps ensure that training continues moving forward instead of stalling or reverting between sessions.
What happens during a Day Train session?
You drop your dog off, and I handle all training and repetition during the session.
Each session is 4 hours of structured, hands-on work tailored to your goals and home routine.
After each session, you will receive:
Verbal breakdown of what was worked on
Written notes with clear handling instructions
Video examples when applicable so you can see exactly how to perform exercises at home
The goal is to make sure you leave each session knowing exactly what to do next.
Will my dog be fully trained after the 3-Day Starter Program?
Some dogs and owners only need the 3-Day Starter Program to establish clarity, structure, and control. In those cases, the foundation is strong enough for the owner to maintain progress on their own with guidance.
Other dogs may need additional sessions to build reliability, especially around distractions or more complex behavioral issues.
There is no one-size-fits-all timeline—progress depends on both the dog and the consistency of the owner at home.
How do I know which package I need?
You don’t need to decide that on your own—that’s my job as your trainer.
We start with the In-Home Consultation Session, where I assess your dog in their real environment and get a clear understanding of what’s going on.
From there, you have two options:
You may choose to receive a written training plan only, which you can follow on your own. (Basic plan, no further guidance beyond written plan.)
Or we move forward into the 3-Day Starter Program, where I begin hands-on training with your dog (Advanced plan, trainer access available after sessions for troubleshooting)
After the starter program, I will recommend the best path forward based on:
your dog’s behavior and learning speed
your consistency and follow-through at home
and what is realistically needed to maintain results long-term for the goals you have decided on.
Some dogs are finished after the starter program when owners are consistent and capable. Others require additional sessions depending on behavior complexity or owner support needs.
Every case is different, and there is no guaranteed timeline or outcome.
What if I’m not consistent at home?
Consistency at home is what determines whether training holds or falls apart.
Without follow-through, behaviors will return over time—even if the dog performs well during sessions with me. This is not because the training didn’t work, but because dogs learn through repetition and reinforcement in their everyday environment. (AKA it’s on you when you’re at home!)
I can guide, teach, and show you exactly what to do—but the outcome depends on whether it is practiced outside of sessions.
Ironically, I can guarantee what happens when consistency is missing just as clearly as I can guide success when it is present.
What if I can’t or don’t follow through at home?
Some owners genuinely want to follow through but cannot due to time, schedule, environment limitations, or other life circumstances.
In those cases, Day Train sessions are the best option, because they allow me to continue the majority of the hands-on work directly with your dog while still making steady progress.
The training expectations and consistency at home should and will be adapted to your daily schedule/routine.
What behaviors do you work with?
I work with dogs experiencing a wide range of behavioral challenges, including:
leash pulling
over-arousal
reactivity
lack of obedience
general behavior issues
and more…
If at any point I feel I am not the best trainer for your specific situation, I will refer you to another trusted professional who may be a better fit.
